David Renggli was born in 1977 in Zurich where he lives and works. From the 6th of May to the 17th of June, Galerie chez Valentin presents a solo exposition in Paris. David Renggli is also participating concurrently, in an exhibition organized by Fischi/Weiss along with seven other young artists, at the Centre Cutural Suisse until the 16th of July. The collaborations with Fischi/Weiss provides an universe for dialogue in terms of the conservations of elements.
This conservation of elements, manifests itself in the still life (live conserve) work of David Renggli; rabbit statuette, motorcycle helmut, leeks and rubber boots are submerged in special alcohol conserve, creating an illusion of conservation and deteroriation; a seemingly wooden construction suspends as if on air, a closer examination finds one resting precariously on a burnt cigarette. Other objects play with its own material existence; balloons made with styrofoam burst at its seams on the ceiling; Ceramic Post its are attached to walls, questioning its own fragility between the appearence and substance. All together, David Renggli provides a new sensation and a freshing perspective in our way of seeing.
